U.S.-India ties shown in joint military exercise
Monday, October 12th, 2009 Blog / Commentary by IARCToday marks the beginning of one of the largest joint military exercises ever between the U.S. and India, with 325 U.S. Army soldiers participating with Indian soldiers in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
During this three-week exercise, it will be the first time the American military has taken Stryker armored vehicles to another country outside of combat operations.
The exercise focuses on shared experiences dealing with peacekeeping operations and humanitarian disaster relief. Drills include patrolling, convoy protection, counter insurgency measures, rules of engagement, anti-mine and anti-IED operations, civil military operations, and logistics support.
This is yet another example of the strong foundational steps being taken to solidify U.S.-India military ties.
